Tarmac
TARMACADAM (commonly known as Tarmac ).

The most versatile of surfacing materials is produced locally, laid and rolled whilst hot to give a lasting, durable and economical surface.

South Molton Tar Pavers will decide if the surface can either be laid by hand or laid with heavy machinery depending on the size of the area to be covered and usually comprises of a base course and wearing course macadam. The wearing course can also be coloured or even have decorative stone rolled in to it, to give an individual bespoke look.
PREPARATION
Excavation is usually carried out by machinery using our own C I T B registered operators and always with a 'Banksman' standing by as a lookout. All necessary protection and signing is always provided by South Molton Tar Pavers so you know that you are safe at all times.

South Molton Tar Pavers ensure the excavated material is taken away in a small lorry and is nearly always recycled, in some instances we may need to use a landfill tip but these are always registered with the Department of the Environment and we do own a Waste Carriers Licence to ensure safe disposal. South Molton Tar Pavers will pay all tipping fees, so there are no extra charges. At the end of each day the team of workmen will use the last half hour scheduled for clearing up, so no mess is left on site.

From the smallest driveway extension to the largest car park we pay equal attention to detail to offer each valued customer a professional job finished to a high standard of quality. South Molton Tar Pavers experience in the trade and our advanced training exceed all expectations required from us, and we take personal pride in our work, whether the contract is big or small.
HARDCORE

The hardcore sub-base is usually crushed stone but increasingly South Molton Tar Pavers are using more environmentally recycled materials such as tarmac planings and crushed concrete all graded to specific sizes and content. This material is levelled and well compacted to 'HAUC' specifications using the latest operator friendly vibrating rollers.

DRAINAGE

Depending on the layout of the area, a drainage system is now incorporated using either plastic or clay materials in all underground situations connecting to the existing system or to a new soak-away using a variety of collecting vessels. Once the drainage systems are in place they are then flushed through with clean water and then tested before covering.

New manhole covers and gully gratings can sometimes be blended in well to disguise it with the surrounding surfaces.
